[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) is set to actively promote the operation of the MH Mapo Housing purchase rental housing project, which involves purchasing houses independently and providing them to households vulnerable to housing crises.
The 'MH Mapo Housing' project, one of the key pledges of Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun during the 7th local election term, is a representative housing welfare support measure by the district that provides temporary shelter, purchase rental housing, and housing stabilization funds to households facing housing difficulties.
For the operation of this purchase rental housing, the district independently purchased three houses within the area last year and completed renovations earlier this year.
This is the first time among Seoul's autonomous districts that a district government directly purchases houses and supplies them as rental housing to vulnerable households.
Recently, the district selected two households as tenants for the purchase rental housing, who are scheduled to move in on May 1.
The purchase rental housing located in Seongsan-dong is equipped with three rooms, one bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen, and is provided at a deposit of 5 million KRW and a monthly rent of about 300,000 KRW.
The prospective tenants are basic livelihood security recipients with family members who are Korean War veterans (national merit recipients) and selected Mapo scholarship students.
To ensure their stable move-in and settlement, the district plans to provide moving expenses and daily necessities support through linkage with housing stabilization funds under the Mapo Housing project.
In addition, since the project started last year, the district has separately prepared 13 temporary shelter houses for residents urgently needing living spaces and provided them to residents vulnerable to housing issues.
Mapo-gu plans to continuously expand and promote the 'MH Mapo Housing' project, a Mapo-style housing welfare support measure, to respond to the housing stability needs of low-income residents in the area facing difficult economic conditions.
