Incheon City to Assist Public Rental Relocation for Residents of Ssokbang and Gosiwon Until Year-End
Designating Jung, Dong, and Gyeyang Districts as Priority Management Areas to Identify Relocation Hopefuls
Support for Move-in Deposits, Moving Expenses, and Daily Necessities Provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is implementing a relocation support project for non-residential residents living in jjokbang (small rooms), gosiwon (boarding rooms), yeonuksok (inns), and similar accommodations to move into public rental housing by the end of the year.
The city designated the Incheon branch of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), which has expertise in housing welfare projects, as the executing agency and signed a related agreement on the 28th.
Eligible applicants are those who have lived in non-residential housing such as jjokbang, gosiwon, or yeonuksok for more than three months and are eligible for housing benefits (with an income recognized amount at or below 45% of the median income), allowing them to move into rental housing.
The city plans to operate a mobile counseling center to identify those wishing to relocate to rental housing, focusing on areas with dense non-residential housing such as Dongincheon-dong and Bukseong-dong in Jung-gu, Manseok-dong in Dong-gu, and Hyoseong-dong and Gyesan-dong in Gyeyang-gu.
Relocation candidates identified through one-on-one counseling will be assisted with finding suitable public rental housing and preparing application documents.
Upon moving into public rental housing, the city will provide a deposit (500,000 KRW), moving expenses (200,000 KRW), and daily necessities worth approximately 200,000 KRW. Additionally, helpers will assist with moving and cleaning to ensure no one gives up on moving in, providing close support on-site.
The housing for relocation will be public rental housing managed by LH and Incheon Urban Corporation. If immediate relocation is difficult due to unavoidable reasons, temporary accommodations will be provided until moving into public rental housing.
Furthermore, non-residential residents in areas other than the focused management districts of Jung-gu, Dong-gu, and Gyeyang-gu who wish to relocate from their current residences can also receive support for moving into public rental housing through this project.
