Wando-gun Nakdo Residents Receive Deliveries by Drone

On the 28th, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it was finally selected for the "Local Community-Based Drone Delivery Point Installation" contest project hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has been promoting the "Local Community-Based Address-Based Drone Delivery Pilot Project" using drones since 2018, and Wando-gun achieved the great success of being selected in the 2020 contest project.
The local community-based drone delivery point installation project is a project to install delivery infrastructure using drones to resolve logistics blind spots where mail or parcel receipt is difficult, such as islands and mountainous areas.
The project will install about 30 drone delivery points within Wando-gun, allowing drones to fly and find locations by entering the road name address of the drone delivery point and deliver to the desired location.
The drone delivery point installation project is fully funded by the national government (75 million KRW).
Wando-gun will form a consultative body with related organizations for the stable settlement and activation of this project and complete the installation of infrastructure by the end of this year by establishing a long-term plan.
Afterwards, in 2021, a pilot operation will be conducted, and in 2022, equipment introduction and full-scale operation will be promoted.

A Wando-gun official said, "Through this project, we expect it to be of great help to island residents in logistics blind spots by quickly delivering daily necessities, emergency medicines, and parcels to island areas."
