Changwon City Installs 'Truly Comfortable Bus Stops' to Block Heatwaves, Cold Waves, and Fine Dust
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 28th that it has installed 'Truly Comfortable Bus Stops' that protect against heatwaves, cold waves, and fine dust at three locations: in front of Changwon Hospital in Seongsan-gu, in front of Hyundong LH Apartments in Masanhappo-gu, and in front of Yukdae in Jinhae-gu.
The newly installed bus stops are equipped with air conditioners and heaters, air purifiers, fine dust measuring devices, and fine dust electronic display boards to protect citizens from heatwaves, cold waves, and fine dust. Additionally, safety and convenience facilities such as closed-circuit (CC) TV and free public Wi-Fi have been added.
The air purifier measures fine dust both inside and outside; it activates when indoor air reaches 25 micrograms, protecting public transportation users from increasing fine dust levels.
Furthermore, dimming sensor lighting is installed inside; the lights brighten when passengers are present inside the stop and dim when no passengers are detected, preventing buses from passing without stopping due to unconfirmed passengers.
The city plans to install one more Truly Comfortable Bus Stop each in Uichang-gu and Masanhwoe-gu using 100 million won in national funds secured through this year's Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Resident Innovation Project contest.
