KEPCO Selected as an Excellent Company for Climate Change Response for 4 Consecutive Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced on the 28th that it was selected as an 'Outstanding Company in the Energy & Utility Sector' at the '2019 Climate Change Response Excellence Awards' hosted by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Korea Committee, held at the Western Chosun Hotel in Seoul.
CDP is a non-profit organization established in 2000 and headquartered in London, UK. It discloses climate change response strategies, greenhouse gas emission data, and reduction efforts of major listed companies in 92 countries, providing financial institutions investing in companies with opportunities and risk factors related to climate change.
As of last year, more than 8,000 companies worldwide participate and disclose their carbon management information. KEPCO has been participating since 2008.
In Korea, climate change management-related information is requested and evaluated from the top 200 listed companies by market capitalization. The CDP Korea Committee selects and announces outstanding domestic companies annually.
The Carbon Management Sector Honors awarded this time selected a total of 16 companies across 10 sectors including finance and industrial goods.
KEPCO received the award in the 'Energy & Utility Sector' in recognition of its continuous carbon management efforts. This marks the fourth consecutive year since its first selection in 2017.
