The new product features a water purifier connected to the water supply installed inside the refrigerator, making it easy to manage and allowing convenient access to clean water and ice without opening the refrigerator door. Samsung Electronics explained that the water purifier refrigerator was developed for consumers who feel that kitchen space is limited or filter management is inconvenient.
The water purifier installed inside the refrigerator consists of three filters and is equipped with a four-stage purification system including sediment, pre-carbon, UF, and carbon filters, which remove foreign substances, odors, heavy metals, and bacteria contained in tap water.
The filters have obtained safety and performance certification from the International Sanitation Foundation, officially designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a drinking water and water purifier testing institution. Among water purifier refrigerators sold domestically, this product is the only one certified by the International Sanitation Foundation.
The new product allows consumers to easily manage the filters without periodic on-site maintenance. It secures the largest purification capacity for refrigerators in Korea at 2,300 liters, requiring replacement only once a year. The filter section is designed with a simple structure that allows easy attachment and detachment by slightly turning the handle.
Using the ‘Home Care Manager’ feature of the Samsung SmartThings app notifies users when it is time to replace the filter, making it even more convenient to use. The water outlet spout is made of stainless steel and is detachable, allowing for hygienic cleaning or boiling.
The Samsung French Door Refrigerator with Built-in Water Purifier minimizes temperature fluctuations inside the refrigerator with ‘Precise Cooling’ technology and a ‘Metal Cooling Door,’ keeping food fresher for longer. It features a ‘Food Showcase’ that separates the refrigerator door storage space, allowing frequently accessed drinks and condiments to be stored in the showcase, and long-term ingredients in the incase compartment, reducing cold air loss by approximately 55%.
The Samsung French Door Refrigerator with Built-in Water Purifier will be released in two colors: ‘Natural’ with a metal silver tone that harmonizes well with any space, and ‘Gentle Black Matte’ with a trendy metal black tone. The retail price is 2,590,000 KRW.
Filters can be purchased at Samsung Electronics service centers, with a set of three filters priced at 95,000 KRW. To commemorate the launch, customers who purchase the product by August will receive two years’ worth of filters free of charge.
Samsung Electronics plans to launch refrigerators with built-in water purifiers in its 4-door product line in the future and is considering expanding the technology accumulated through the development of refrigerator water purifiers to other products.
