Eunpyeong-gu Supports Daycare Centers Facing Difficulties Due to COVID-19
Applications from April 28 to May 1... Payments from May 11... Support Funds for Stabilizing Daycare Center Operations
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will provide financial support to daycare centers struggling with operations due to COVID-19.
This is being implemented to provide financial assistance to daycare centers facing difficulties in maintaining employment of existing teachers due to a decrease in enrolled children and reduced childcare fee income, as more children switch from childcare fees to childcare allowances amid prolonged daycare closures.
This support is a measure to prevent emotional instability among children caused by changes in teachers even after operations normalize post-COVID and to ensure stable childcare. Emergency funding will be injected by Seoul City and Eunpyeong-gu at a 50:50 ratio to private and home daycare centers with low enrollment rates, conditional on maintaining childcare teacher employment.
Additionally, to stabilize childcare teacher employment, daycare centers with a decreased number of enrolled children compared to March will receive support for Nuri operation expenses and institutional childcare fees based on the March child count. However, centers currently under or scheduled for administrative suspension are excluded, and payments are conditional on maintaining childcare teacher employment.
Currently, Eunpyeong-gu’s emergency childcare attendance rate is 47%, with 47 out of 100 children attending. Public meals are being provided as usual, and all childcare teachers are working to deliver the Nuri curriculum at pre-COVID levels, maintaining the basic system to ensure no inconvenience in daycare center use.
The application period is from April 28 to May 1, and support payments will begin on May 11.
