Jeonnam Province Opens Phase 1 of Local Road No. 825
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 27th that it has opened the first phase of Local Road No. 825, connecting Jeonnam Arts High School on National Road No. 1 to the Jeonnam Provincial Office.
The opened section started construction in 2015 with an investment of 7.9 billion KRW for a 1.1 km stretch from National Road No. 1 to Samhyang Elementary School in Muan, out of a total length of 3.6 km. However, due to the contractor's withdrawal and the process of re-selection, it was completed after 4 years and 7 months.
Until now, the road was narrow and winding, posing a high risk of traffic accidents. With the road straightening this time, accessibility for residents using the provincial office and Naman New Town has greatly improved. It is also expected to greatly help students of Jeonnam Arts High School and Samhyang Elementary School commute safely to and from school.
Additionally, the second phase, a 2.5 km section from Samhyang Elementary School to the Jeonnam Provincial Office, is currently underway with an investment of 17.8 billion KRW, aiming for opening in 2023, and construction has recently begun.
In particular, once the entire section is opened, the distance will be shortened by 2 km (from 5.6 km to 3.6 km) and travel time by 5 minutes (from 10 minutes to 5 minutes) compared to accessing through Mokpo city.
