Uribio Establishes Soft Capsule Production Line Sales... "Expecting Sales Growth"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Woori Bio announced on the 27th that it has completed the establishment of softgel capsule manufacturing facilities and obtained GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) approval, and has begun full-scale production.
To respond to the increasing demand for softgel capsules in the health functional food market, including lutein and omega-3, Woori Bio invested 2.5 billion KRW to set up three production lines within its Ansan health functional food factory, enabling the production of 1.2 million softgel capsules per day (based on 500mg).
Through this, Woori Bio can now independently produce major formulations of health functional foods such as ▲tablets ▲capsules ▲pills ▲granules ▲powders ▲liquids.
In particular, Woori Bio’s softgel facility is a specification compatible with both plant-based and animal-based softgel capsules, a feature possessed by only a few domestic companies. A Woori Bio official explained, "Currently, most softgel capsules use animal-based (gelatin) capsules, but consumer interest in plant-based capsules is increasing due to safety concerns. By securing differentiated facilities from other companies, we can proactively respond to future market demand." He added, "With the establishment of this softgel line, not only diversification of client companies but also the fact that OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) orders from customers are made for various formulations suggests an expected increase in sales of solid and liquid products."
Lee Soong-rae, CEO of Woori Bio, said, "Softgel capsules are a formulation that accounts for over 70% of the health functional food capsule market due to their ease of absorption by the body. This investment includes both facility and core personnel establishment, which will expand the sales power of the OEM business division and strengthen the competitiveness of our own B2C products scheduled for release in the second half of the year."
Woori Bio also obtained GMP approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on the 22nd, guaranteeing hygiene and quality at all production stages including raw materials, processing, and packaging for the softgel capsule production line.
