Myanmar, COVID-19 Cases Rise from 0 to 132 in One Month... Expected to Increase Further

According to local media such as the Myanmar Times on the 24th, the Ministry of Health announced that 9 additional COVID-19 cases were confirmed the previous day.
Myanmar, which reported its first two COVID-19 cases on May 23, has seen a rapid increase to 132 cases in just over a month. As the Myanmar authorities expand testing capacity, the number of confirmed cases is expected to rise further.
Currently, the Myanmar National Health Laboratory has a daily testing capacity of about 380 tests. The National Health Laboratory plans to import Swiss-made testing equipment on the 27th, which will increase the daily testing capacity to 1,140 tests.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health announced that 103 of the cumulative confirmed cases until the previous day were reported in Yangon. Accordingly, Yangon Region plans to extend the curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. until June 18.
