Middle School Student Arrested for Filming and Distributing Photos of Elementary School Student Met Through Chat App
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] A middle school boy is under police investigation after filming an elementary school girl's body with his mobile phone and uploading it to social networking services (SNS).
On the 24th, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency announced that they have booked A (14) without detention on charges of filming a female elementary school student's body and distributing it on SNS (violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes).
A is suspected of meeting the girl he got to know through a chat application last month, intimidating her to take off her clothes, and filming her body with his mobile phone. He also mosaic-processed part of the photos and distributed them on SNS.
The police received a report from the victimized elementary school student and began verifying the facts through digital forensic analysis of A's mobile phone.
The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education also recognized the situation and took measures. Since the 22nd, the Office has held a School Violence Countermeasure Deliberation Committee to discuss the disciplinary level for A. Because compulsory education lasts until middle school, A will receive disciplinary actions such as forced transfer, suspension of attendance, or special education completion, excluding expulsion.
