Gangdong-gu Supports Businesses Avoided Due to Visits by COVID-19 Confirmed Cases
Support of up to 390,000 KRW per day for rent and labor costs as fixed expenses for affected businesses... Applications accepted until the 29th for companies unexpectedly impacted by COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will support costs incurred during the closure period for businesses suffering operational difficulties due to closure after quarantine measures following visits by confirmed COVID-19 cases.
The support funds cover rent according to the lease contract, which corresponds to the fixed costs of the affected businesses, and labor costs confirmed through the withholding tax status report.
Costs incurred during the closure period will be calculated on a daily basis, with a maximum of 390,000 KRW per day available.
The recognized closure period includes 2 days for business preparation and awareness transition, plus the actual closure days (3 days required for reopening after quarantine), totaling up to 5 days, with support up to 1,950,000 KRW.
The support targets are 31 small business owners and franchise operators identified by the district among businesses visited by confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Businesses affected by visits from confirmed COVID-19 cases can apply by submitting an application form, ID, bankbook copy, lease contract, and withholding tax status report to the Gangdong-gu Office Labor Rights Center either in person or via email (phooah@gangdong.go.kr) by April 29.
The district plans to calculate the support funds based on the received applications and disburse payments in early May.
Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon of Gangdong-gu said, “Although immediate quarantine measures were taken to prevent the spread of damage to businesses visited by confirmed COVID-19 cases, these businesses are suffering double or triple hardships due to anxiety over infectious disease risks in the surrounding area. We hope that all businesses, including small business owners, can endure this crisis together, and we will do our best to ensure prompt support.”
