[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters of the National Health Insurance Service held a drawing contest to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). This contest was conducted to boost confidence in overcoming COVID-19 and raise awareness about infectious diseases among residents of the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, which were declared special disaster areas in late February due to a large number of cases. A total of 180 works were submitted to the contest.
After preliminary rounds, expert judging, and employee voting, seven winning works were selected. The grand prize was awarded to Kim, a 3rd grader at Dongil Elementary School in Daegu, for her work titled "Cheer Up! Heroes of the Republic of Korea" (photo). The drawing expressed gratitude toward medical staff and those responsible for quarantine efforts. Kim said, "I wanted to express my thanks to those who worked hardest to overcome COVID-19."
The gold prize went to "Cheer Up! Daegu~ Let's Be Together! Daegu~," which included various daily life guidelines. The silver prizes were awarded to "COVID, Disappear from Korea!" and "Ways to Prevent the COVID-19 Virus." Kim Sun-ok, head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters of the National Health Insurance Service, said, "I hope COVID-19 will end as soon as possible, and I wish everyone to properly practice personal hygiene and social distancing as promoted by the government."
