Korea Electric Power Technology Exports Nuclear Power Plant Piping Management Program to UAE
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Electric Power Technology, a public enterprise specializing in nuclear power plant design, announced on the 23rd that it has exported a nuclear power plant piping management program to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
KEPCO E&C stated that it won the bid for the piping wall-thinning management software solution ordered by Nawah, the operator of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE, beating competitors from the United States and France. The domestically developed nuclear power plant piping management program, 'ToSPACE,' will be exported.
The contract amount is 700 million KRW. The company will carry out program delivery, verification, validation, and training.
The program features functions such as building a three-dimensional (3D) database to manage wall-thinning phenomena in nuclear power plants, sensitivity analysis, wall-thinning prediction, inspection data analysis, and preparation of mid- to long-term inspection plans.
Wall-thinning refers to the phenomenon where the thickness of piping becomes thinner after long-term operation.
KEPCO E&C used American products for over 20 years but succeeded in domestic development and obtained GS (Good Software) certification by being recognized for reliability, efficiency, and suitability as defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Dr. Hwang Kyung-mo of KEPCO E&C explained, "This export is significant in that domestic software technology related to nuclear power plant operation has been recognized globally," adding, "We are pursuing a strategy to pioneer new overseas markets and aim to secure versatility that can be applied to thermal power generation and combined heat and power generation as well."
