Gokseong-gun, Rent Reduction for Shared Property Tenants to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gokseong-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 23rd that it will reduce rent (usage fees and lease fees) for tenants of county-owned properties who have been directly hit by the decrease in tourists due to COVID-19.
To this end, the county investigated the status of tenants experiencing business difficulties due to COVID-19 in March and amended the "Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Management of Public Property and Goods" to establish grounds for rent reduction. Then, through the county public property review committee, the rent reduction plan was finalized.
According to the finalized plan, tenants leasing county-owned properties (excluding those for cultivation or residential use) can receive a 50% reduction in rent from February 1 to July 31.
If the leased public property was not used at all during the period due to closure or other reasons, tenants can receive a full waiver of usage fees for the unused period or extend the lease period by the amount of unused time.
To receive the rent reduction, an application must be submitted to the department that signed the usage or lease contract starting from the 1st of next month.
The county plans to review the documents, refund the usage fees already paid through the applicant's account, and notify and charge the reduced amount for rents not yet imposed along with a separate notice.
