Due to COVID-19, the students of Sindang Hana Daycare Center, who cannot attend in person and are staying at home, can see the new semester teacher’s face on the computer screen through a video. Along with the teacher’s voice, they also see photos of their friends’ faces and look around the classroom with their eyes. Clicking on other videos plays fairy tales read aloud by the teacher’s voice.
Various home-linked activities at daycare centers in Jung-gu (District Mayor Seo Yang-ho) are receiving positive responses from parents.
Sindang Hana Daycare Center (407 Wangsimni-ro) produced its own videos for the students. Although separated by social distancing, videos featuring photos of the homeroom teacher, classroom, and friends help build intimacy. Videos of fairy tales read directly by teachers and play activities that can be enjoyed at home are introduced to narrow the psychological distance with the children.
Hoihyeon Daycare Center (23 Toegye-ro 12ga-gil) is doing the same. Play kits that can be enjoyed at home were distributed, and photos of teachers and children were uploaded on the Kids Note app to introduce the class. Using various materials including YouTube, activities such as drawing, paper folding, following dance moves, and reading fairy tales were made easy for children to follow. Parents also share their situations through comments, coping with COVID-19 together.
Sindang-dong Daycare Center (41 Cheonggu-ro 8-gil) delivered a COVID-19 overcoming support kit to homes, consisting of masks, jelly, scratch books, colored paper, balloons, and more. Using Kids Note, play materials are shared, and a weekly video service produced by the daycare center is also provided.
Hwanghak Daycare Center (23 Nangye-ro 15-gil) conducted home-stay play tips and a life story contest. This was planned by the daycare center to encourage parents’ interest and participation and to communicate with children in advance in preparation for returning to daycare. Each family uploaded their unique play tips and life stories on the Kids Note notice board, creating an online play culture sharing space where everyone can enjoy those activities together.
Yaksu Daycare Center (15 Dasan-ro 6-gil) is also active. Using materials easily available at home, daily play and parent education materials are provided on Kids Note. Various play activities and home childcare support materials are also shared via mobile. They provide diverse materials linking home and daycare activities, such as kits for growing radish sprouts, cooking activities using grown radish sprouts, growing the air-purifying plant Stucky, and delivering delicious snacks.
Manri Daycare Center (175 Manrijae-ro), located in Jungnim-dong, delivered hygiene kits containing masks, hand sanitizers, wet wipes, and various play kits made directly by childcare teachers to parents. They also provide daily diverse play methods on Kids Note and conduct health notification surveys to check the health status of enrolled infants and their families, carefully monitoring the children’s health and well-being even during the closure.
Cheonggu Daycare Center (81 Dasan-ro 24-gil) is also enthusiastic. They provide safety kits including disinfectants, masks, alcohol swabs, and nutrition snack kits, as well as various disaster alert services for the COVID-19 overcoming family campaign. They offer various videos and image materials and activate notice board activities, receiving enthusiastic responses from parents.
