Director Yeon Sang-ho of "Train to Busan," Produces Netflix Drama "Jigok"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jonggil Lee] Yeon Sang-ho, the director of the film Train to Busan, is producing the Netflix original series Hellbound. According to Netflix on the 23rd, this work deals with supernatural phenomena experienced by people who receive death sentences to hell after encountering the emissaries of hell. It plans to depict a chaotic society by introducing new religions that interpret these events as the will of God. The original work is a webtoon of the same name serialized on Naver, with Yeon directing the illustrations and Choi Gyu-seok, the writer of Spotlight, responsible for the script. The two are co-writing the screenplay, and Yeon is directing. Netflix stated, “The worldview established in the webtoon will be further expanded in the drama.” Production is handled by Lezhin Studio, the company that produced the drama Method, in which Yeon also participated in the screenplay.
