Daewoo E&C Signs Main Contract for Indonesia 'Tangu Expansion Phase 2'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] On the 22nd, Daewoo Engineering & Construction signed the main contract for the Tangguh Expansion Ph2 project, an LNG liquefaction plant construction in Indonesia. The contract amount is $50 million (approximately 61.6 billion KRW).
Daewoo E&C will be responsible for the high-strength piping work, a core process of the 'Tangguh LNG Train 3 liquefaction plant' located in the Bintuni Bay area of West Papua Province, Indonesia.
Daewoo E&C explained that although the scale of this project is not large, it is significant as their first entry into the Indonesian liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant market.
Daewoo E&C has global-level construction capabilities in this field, having constructed 10 out of approximately 90 LNG liquefaction plants currently operating worldwide.

A Daewoo E&C official said, "This project is meaningful as it marks our first entry into the Indonesian LNG plant market through a cooperative relationship with Saipem, the global LNG liquefaction plant main contractor. Through this project, we will accumulate construction experience in Indonesia and promote market expansion into Southeast Asia, which is emerging as a new market under the government's New Southern Policy."
