Jeon Nam-do Councilor Woo Seung-hee Establishes Basis for 'Priority Parking Zones' Installation
Expansion of Parking Convenience for Vehicles Assisting Pregnant Women, Foster Families with Disabled Children, and Disabled Activity Support
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The "Jeollanam-do Ordinance on the Installation and Operation of Parking Spaces Exclusively for Pregnant Women," wholly revised and proposed by Jeollanam-do Assembly member Woo Seunghee, was approved as originally proposed by the Health, Welfare, and Environment Committee at the 340th extraordinary session on the 22nd.
According to Assembly member Woo Seunghee, this ordinance establishes the legal basis for installing considerate parking spaces in public parking lots and parking lots attached to public facilities for pregnant women and children with disabilities in foster care within Jeollanam-do.
This is expected to enhance mobility convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups, and parking convenience will be further improved by issuing considerate parking permits not only to pregnant women but also to vehicles supporting children with disabilities in foster care and persons with disabilities.
In September last year, Assembly member Woo pointed out during a provincial administration inquiry that although foster families of children with disabilities are the actual caregivers, they face significant difficulties in transportation for hospital visits, etc., because they cannot receive disability parking permits.
Assembly member Woo Seunghee stated, "With this ordinance revision, we hope to provide practical assistance to improve the welfare of residents by offering convenience in the use of vehicles carrying transportation-vulnerable individuals."
