Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Health and Welfare Share COVID-19 Prevention Experiences Between Korea and Kuwait
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that they will jointly hold a special video conference on the afternoon of the 22nd with Kuwaiti health officials to respond to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in cooperation with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute.
This bilateral video conference to share COVID-19 response experiences with African and Middle Eastern countries is the third, following Qatar and Tunisia.
The video conference will be attended by Mustafa Ridha, Deputy Minister of Health of Kuwait, the Vice Minister of Health, the Director of International Cooperation, and medical staff. They will engage in open discussions and Q&A sessions with domestic medical personnel on △ Korea’s medical system related to COVID-19 and infection control status △ clinical experiences, among other topics.
This video conference is a follow-up to the meeting between the two countries’ health ministries in January and was promoted through phone calls between the foreign ministers of the two countries. Korea and Kuwait have maintained close cooperation in the health and medical fields, including attracting government-funded patients, promoting the consignment operation of public hospitals, and exporting diagnostic tools (kits).
This conference call is expected not only to further strengthen health and medical cooperation between the two countries but also to expand Kuwait’s practical response capabilities to COVID-19 and, in the long term, contribute to enhancing the credibility of Korean medical care.
