One COVID-19 Case Confirmed in Gyeongnam After 5 Days... Male Caregiver (Update)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 22nd that one additional confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) occurred in the province after 5 days.
The confirmed case is a 65-year-old male caregiver residing in Changwon. He volunteered at Seoyoyang Hospital in Gyeongsan, where a COVID-19 cluster infection occurred, from the 26th of last month to the 15th of this month.
Since Seoyoyang Hospital entered cohort isolation on the 1st, the man was also quarantined at the hospital and was released from isolation with a negative test result on the 15th, after which he returned to Changwon. Although he was asymptomatic and had one negative test result, he was advised by the Gyeongsan Public Health Center to undergo retesting. He took an additional test at Jinhae Public Health Center on the 21st and tested positive that night, leading to his hospitalization at Masan Medical Center.
An official from the province stated, "Along with investigating the man's movements and contacts, we have requested GPS records from the police to conduct an epidemiological investigation and quarantine measures." The official added, "Among the man's seven family members, six tested negative, and one is scheduled for testing."
