Minister Kang Kyung-wha Holds Video Conference with Japanese Regional Chiefs of Mission to Review COVID-19 Situation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 21st, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a video conference chaired by Minister Kang Kyung-wha with heads of diplomatic missions in Japan to assess the local spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and discuss measures to protect Korean nationals in Japan.
The video conference was attended by the Ambassador to Japan, Consul Generals in Osaka, Fukuoka, Sendai, and Yokohama, who are in charge of regions in Japan experiencing infection spread.
The heads of missions reported on the COVID-19 spread status in their jurisdictions, key response trends, and cases of protecting Korean nationals, and explained difficulties they are facing locally.

Minister Kang encouraged the diplomatic staff who are striving to protect Korean nationals despite the challenging conditions of the worsening infection trend in Japan, and urged them to do their best in their duties while closely communicating with the Japanese government, local governments, and related organizations to minimize inconvenience and damage to Korean nationals and businesspeople in Japan.
