This campaign is being promoted in collaboration with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Korea Employers Federation, Korea Federation of SMEs, and Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, to support small business owners and self-employed individuals struggling due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The Good Prepayment Campaign period is from the 27th of this month to the 26th of next month.
The campaign is a voluntary good consumer movement where people prepay at frequently visited restaurants, local neighborhood stores, cafes, and other small business and self-employed establishments, promising to revisit.
The government plans to expand the income deduction rate for credit and debit card payments in affected industries such as food, lodging, and tourism uniformly to 80% until June this year, to encourage voluntary activation of prepayment and pre-purchase in the private sector. Companies that prepay or pre-purchase from small business owners will be eligible for a 1% tax credit on income tax and corporate tax, with related legislation currently pending.
Companies and the general public wishing to participate in the campaign can easily register certification shots and leave support messages through the Good Prepayment Campaign website. About 1,000 general participants will be selected to receive prizes such as products from small business owners in COVID-19 special disaster areas and local specialties.
Notably, actors Ahn Sung-ki and Yoo Joon-sang, and photographer Kang Young-ho directly participated in the prepayment movement and contributed their talents by appearing in public service advertisements and producing ads together. They also delivered support messages to small business owners.
