Busan Office of Education Provides 'Thermal Imaging Cameras' to 393 Schools with Over 200 Students
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 20th that it will additionally provide thermal imaging cameras for fever checks to kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within schools when in-person classes resume.
Previously, on the 24th of last month, the Office of Education spent 1.608 billion KRW to supply 207 thermal imaging cameras to 203 elementary, middle, and high schools with more than 600 students.
Subsequently, with a secured supplementary budget of 3.0261 billion KRW, 393 thermal imaging cameras will be distributed to 393 schools with student populations between 200 and 600, as well as schools with 1,000 to less than 1,500 students.
Among these, schools with more than 1,000 students will receive an additional camera per school, following the previous distribution.
The target schools by level include 31 kindergartens, 142 elementary schools, 116 middle schools, 83 high schools, 13 special schools, 1 foreign school, and 7 lifelong education facilities.
The Office of Education will purchase the cameras collectively through joint procurement to reduce the burden on individual schools. To this end, procedures such as public announcement, formation of a product selection committee, proposal evaluation, product demonstration, vendor selection, and contract signing will be conducted.

A representative from the Busan Office of Education stated, "To respond swiftly to COVID-19, the thermal imaging cameras will be contracted individually after review by the 'COVID-19 Active Administrative Support Team.' We will ensure the cameras are distributed to each school as soon as possible."
