Seoul City Begins Performance Improvement Construction of 'Gaebong Overpass' ... Scheduled for Completion in April 2023
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 20th that it will begin improvement work on the durability of the Gaebong Overpass in Guro-gu on the 22nd, with plans to complete the project by April 2023.
The Gaebong Overpass was constructed as an elevated road in 1971 to connect Gaebong-ro, which is divided by the Subway Line 1 (Gyeongin Line) railway, and has served as a key route for logistics movement in Guro-gu for 49 years.
Through the improvement work, the city plans to increase the load capacity of the Gaebong Overpass, built in 1971, from a total weight of 23 tons to 40 tons.

During the construction period, the four-lane road with a total length of 332 meters and a width of 18.9 meters will be reduced to two lanes in both directions, causing expected traffic congestion. Accordingly, the city has urged citizens to use public transportation or detour routes.
