KT Partners with Chosun University Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Team
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 20th, KT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chosun University Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Group for cloud and AI-based dementia prediction and early diagnosis research.
KT is conducting a medical cloud business using data centers in accordance with the revision of the 'Medical Service Act Enforcement Rules on Electronic Medical Record Management and Preservation.' While meeting the standards for electronic medical record preservation management, KT has established a cancer diagnosis information system for domestic research institutions based on obtaining medical information protection system certification. Additionally, KT has carried out gene analysis projects for disease identification with domestic university hospitals.
The Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Group created the world's first standard brain map for Koreans in 2018 and attracted attention by developing 'NeuroEye,' a dementia prediction device applying brain image analysis algorithms. KT and the Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Group plan to collaborate by integrating dementia research data and analysis systems into a cloud platform to enable researchers to easily utilize them. The Gwangju Dementia Cohort Research Group has accumulated screening and clinical trial data of 10,000 people through over ten years of dementia research. Although this research data has been shared with many research institutions through joint research, they have faced difficulties due to system overload and security issues.
The two organizations will cooperate in developing AI technology for early dementia diagnosis based on cloud infrastructure. Specifically, they will work together on ▲ providing KT cloud infrastructure and technical cooperation for the successful promotion of dementia overcoming research and development projects, and ▲ developing a mobile dementia prevention and management platform.
