Nowon-gu Provides 14.6 Billion Won in Temporary Living Support Funds to Low-Income Residents
146 Billion KRW Support for 22,000 Basic Livelihood Security and Low-Income Households... Distributed as Rechargeable Prepaid Cards Delivered to Households by Community Service Centers Without Separate Application
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is conducting a 'Temporary Living Support' project for low-income residents experiencing economic difficulties due to COVID-19.
The temporary living support fund aims to stabilize the lives of low-income households and increase their consumption capacity. A total of 14.697 billion KRW will be distributed differentially to 22,419 households of basic livelihood security recipients and legally designated near-poverty groups residing in Nowon-gu.
For livelihood and medical recipients, the amount is 520,000 KRW for a single-person household, 1.4 million KRW for a four-person household, and up to 1.92 million KRW for a six-person household. For housing, education, and near-poverty groups, the amounts are 400,000 KRW for one person, 1.08 million KRW for four persons, and up to 1.48 million KRW for six persons. Facility recipients receive 520,000 KRW per person.
This living support fund will be provided as a rechargeable prepaid card for residents' convenience. Once personal receipt is confirmed, the support amount for four months from April to July will be loaded onto the card.
From the 6th to the 14th, a concentrated distribution period was set, during which community center staff, neighborhood leaders, and welfare planners visited households to distribute the cards, reaching 81% of households, totaling 10,837 households so far.
In case of absence, separate receipt dates are notified via phone calls and text messages, with plans to complete card distribution by the end of April.
The prepaid cards provided are intended to support small business owners and the recovery of the local economy. They can be used at stores, restaurants, convenience stores, etc., within Seoul but cannot be used at department stores, large supermarkets, or entertainment establishments. The district encourages use within the local area until July to revitalize the regional economy.
If residents have not received their cards or have not been notified, they can contact the district office's Living Welfare Division or their respective community centers.
