Gangbuk-gu, Collaborative Governance Agenda Proposal Contest
Call for Proposals on Local Issues and Solutions Solvable through Cooperation by May 29... After Review, Voting at Resident Forum, Final Agenda for 2021 Community Innovation Plan Establishment
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyumsu) is soliciting cooperative governance agenda proposals until May 29 to guarantee residents' opportunities to participate in district administration and to discover a wide range of local issues.
Any Gangbuk-gu resident can participate by submitting local issues and solutions that can be addressed through public-private cooperation, including resident autonomy, local economy, urban regeneration, environment, transportation, welfare, childcare, education, culture and tourism, youth, and women's issues.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Gangbuk-gu Office website (www.gangbuk.go.kr → Resident Participation → Cooperative Gangbuk → Cooperative Bulletin Board), filling it out, and then submitting it via the website (Cooperative Gangbuk → ‘Agenda Proposal’), the Gangbuk Cooperative Cafe (cafe.naver.com/gangbukhc123) ‘Agenda Proposal’ board, or by email (catcher9@gangbuk.go.kr).
Received proposals will undergo deliberation and review through the Agenda Submission Committee. Qualified agendas with cooperativeness, feasibility, and public interest will be reflected in the 2021 Community Innovation Plan through voting at the Residents' Grand Forum.
The district will also recruit participants for the working groups that will implement the agendas selected at the Residents' Grand Forum.
Last year, public-private cooperative governance agendas were decided through subcommittee meetings for each agenda derived from regional and sectoral residents' forums. Among these, 10 agendas such as ‘Revitalizing the Local Economy with Traditional Markets’ and ‘Creating a Barrier-Free Village to Promote the Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities’ were finally selected as the 2020 Gangbuk-gu public-private cooperative governance agendas through the Residents' Grand Forum and are currently being implemented as actual projects this year.
Mayor Park Kyumsu of Gangbuk-gu said, “For Gangbuk-gu to achieve sustainable development, participation of various stakeholders in the community’s policy process must be expanded,” and added, “We hope many residents will participate in this cooperative governance agenda solicitation to directly create a better village.”
