View original image[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Nam Young-hee, the Democratic Party candidate for Michuhol-gu B in Dong-gu, Incheon, who lost the 21st general election by a margin of 171 votes, defended Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, who made the 'progressive coalition 180 seats remark' ahead of the general election.
On the 18th, Nam said, "The public opinion that my defeat is Yoo Si-min chairman's fault is not correct," adding, "That is why it hurt even more."
He explained, "Chairman Yoo made the remark during a broadcast to respond to comments posted on YouTube, sharing his analysis of the situation and his hopes," and "If there had been no conservative media that distorted and exaggerated his words as if they were waiting for them, it would have been a part that would not have been remembered."
Continuing, Nam said, "I lost by the narrowest margin of 171 votes in this general election," and "Of course, I have feelings of unfairness. But if I look at it objectively, that defeat is solely due to Nam Young-hee's shortcomings."
In the following statement, Nam Young-hee asserted, "Passing the responsibility to Chairman Yoo does not change my position and rather only divides our internal strength."
Nam also defended Yoo, saying, "Have we forgotten the one year of struggle Chairman Yoo went through leading up to this general election?" and "It is not right to exaggerate a small fault."
Earlier, on the 17th, Chairman Yoo apologized during the 'Yoo Si-min's Alileo' YouTube broadcast, mentioning candidates Kim Young-chun (Busan Busanjin-gu A) and Park Soo-hyun (Chungnam Gongju, Buyeo, Cheongyang), who also lost by narrow margins, including Nam Young-hee.
