Wando County Governor Shin Woo-cheol Joins 'Salary Return Campaign' to Help Neighbors in Need
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando County, Jeonnam announced on the 17th that County Governor Shin Woo-cheol will voluntarily return 30% of his salary for four months from April to July and donate it to the Wando County Happiness Welfare Foundation to share the pain caused by the spread of COVID-19.
As the prolonged COVID-19 situation has led to a contraction in local economic activities, not only self-employed and small business owners but all county residents are going through difficult times. Last month, 21 mayors and county governors of the Jeonnam Mayors and Governors Council decided to participate in the salary return campaign.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “I joined the salary return campaign to share the pain of county residents who are suffering due to COVID-19,” adding, “I hope that this small sharing will give hope and courage to the residents and help overcome this crisis even a little.”
The returned salary will be donated to the Wando County Happiness Welfare Foundation and used to support neighbors who are struggling to make a living due to COVID-19.
