The public-private governance project significantly expands the scope of participation compared to previous resident participation projects that were limited to proposals or decisions. It is a project model where residents participate in all stages, including proposing, executing, and evaluating local policies and projects.
Anyone who is a resident of Mapo, a worker in the area, or part of an organization can participate in the project.
Proposed agenda items should be ▲projects that have a positive effect on the local community beyond the issues of specific groups or residents ▲projects where the private and public sectors can cooperate during planning and execution ▲projects that influence two or more neighborhoods.
The proposed agenda will be reviewed by the responsible department, go through public-private deliberation processes and resident forums, and then be concretized as a governance project. After final approval by the Mapo-gu Governance Council, the overall coordinating body, it will be reflected in the Mapo-gu Community Innovation Plan. Selected projects are scheduled to be implemented starting in 2021.
Applications can be submitted by writing on the district office website (Communication and Participation - Explore Governance Mapo - Propose Governance Projects) or by downloading the proposal form from the announcements section, filling it out, and sending it via email (mpmj@mapo.go.kr) by April 26.
Last year, the district discovered over 100 agenda items at the resident forum and, through governance deliberation, selected a total of eight governance projects, including the ‘Youth Smoking Cessation Promotion Project’ and the ‘Middle-aged Single-person Household Power-up Project,’ which are currently being implemented this year.
