Seoul City Provides 370 Million KRW Support to 12 Promising Tourism Startups
'Seoul-Tourism Startup Collaboration Project' Contest Open Until the 6th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Tourism Foundation announced on the 17th that they will hold the 'Seoul-Tourism Startup Collaboration Project' contest to revitalize the tourism industry, which has been stagnated due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
With a total support of 370 million KRW, this contest is open without restrictions to businesses that help domestic and international tourists discover and conveniently experience various attractions in Seoul. The contest categories include ICT & platform type, content & experience type, and value tourism type, selecting and supporting about 12 startups in total.
In the ICT & platform category, participation from startups that integrate the latest technology trends such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, big data, and blockchain?core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution?is expected, aiming not only to improve individual travelers' convenience but also to realize a smart tourism city.
In the content & experience category, collaboration is planned with startups that develop unique cultural experience products that can only be experienced in Seoul by utilizing Seoul's distinctive cultural resources and content, thereby enhancing tourist satisfaction.
In the value tourism category, tourism products for vulnerable groups such as the disabled and elderly, and tourism services pursuing social values will be developed to create a tourism environment where everyone can enjoy Seoul.
Applicants must be small and medium-sized enterprises or individual businesses established within the last 7 years, with at least 6 months of business experience. Selected companies will receive project promotion funds and one-on-one customized consulting considering their business status, business model analysis, and company characteristics and strengths and weaknesses, with support from CNT Tech Co., Ltd., a startup specialized accelerator.
