Gangdong-gu Delivers 'Letters of Comfort' to Youth Struggling with COVID-19
'Mannabox' Containing Past Exam Question Books and Snacks Delivered to Youth Preparing for the GED
An employee of the Gangdong-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center is preparing a "Warm Spring Letter from the Heart" to deliver to the youth.
View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is sending "A Warm Spring Letter from the Heart" and "Manna Box" by mail to support adolescents who are psychologically struggling while feeling confined at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With school openings delayed and social distancing campaigns ongoing due to COVID-19, the Gangdong-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center and Youth Support Center (hereafter Gangdong-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center) prepared these gifts to help local youths in urgent need of emotional sharing overcome COVID-19 with a healthy mindset.
The district delivered "A Warm Spring Letter from the Heart," which includes masks, hand sanitizer, and a guide to maintaining mental health, to 80 youths using the Gangdong-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center. Additionally, hand-written letters containing messages of hope to prevent stress caused by COVID-19 will be sent to 150 youths recommended by other organizations.
Moreover, the Gangdong-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center mailed "Manna Boxes" containing past exam question books for the qualification exam and snack packages to 30 out-of-school youths, encouraging them not to give up on the exam despite the postponement of the qualification exam schedule due to COVID-19.
Furthermore, "Manna Boxes" consisting of string art and acrylic mood lamp DIY kits were delivered to 50 out-of-school youths struggling with stress from COVID-19, helping them shake off the boredom of daily life.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, "I hope the confined feelings of youths with limited outdoor activities will be warmly relieved through the warm spring letter from the heart," and added, "We will continue to provide ongoing attention and support so that youths can wisely overcome COVID-19 through various non-face-to-face services."
The Gangdong-gu Youth Counseling and Welfare Center and Youth Support Center are public youth facilities located on the 2nd floor at 47, Arisu-ro 93-gil, Gangdong-gu, offering tailored services for youths such as psychological counseling, club activities, educational program operation, and programs and support for at-risk and out-of-school youths.
