Implementation of Road Collapse and Flood Damage Prevention Projects with 31 Billion KRW Invested in 10 Businesses... Thorough Disaster Preparedness through Maintenance of Aging Sewers in the Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) announced that it has secured 31 billion KRW for the sewer pipeline maintenance project to prevent road collapses and flooding in low-lying areas, completed the preliminary procedures for the project, and has officially started the project.
In Gwanak-gu, among major sewer facilities such as 38 km of sewer boxes, 367 km of circular pipelines, 11,005 manholes, and 26,177 rainwater inlets, 65% of the sewer pipelines are over 30 years old, requiring special maintenance and repair.
Accordingly, the district has launched a total of 10 sewer pipeline maintenance projects, including comprehensive sewer pipeline maintenance, road collapse prevention, and repair of defective sewer manholes.
First, to prevent flooding damage in low-lying areas, a comprehensive sewer pipeline maintenance project will be implemented in the drainage basins of Sillim 4 (Jowon, Sinsa, Miseong-dong), Sillim 1 (Sillim, Seorim, Sinwon-dong), and Sadang (Namhyun-dong), planning to repair 13.1 km of aged sewer pipelines.
Additionally, 10 billion KRW in city funds will be used to repair 4.6 km of road collapse risk sections, and repair work on defective sewer manholes on roads is also being carried out following last year.
Once all sewer improvement projects are completed this year, it is expected to greatly contribute to preventing safety accidents caused by road collapses and flooding, which have emerged as social issues, through the improvement of aged and defective sewers.
