Seoul City-Hyundai Department Store Group, Support for Youth Local Living and Local Business Market Expansion
Signing of MOU to Promote 'Urban Youth Regional Win-Win Employment Project'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] To address youth unemployment and support the local economy, Seoul City announced on the 16th that it will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hyundai Department Store Group to promote the 'Urban Youth Local Coexistence Employment Project (Cheongjeong Area Project)'.
Hyundai Department Store will focus on mentoring urban youth who have ventured into local areas seeking growth opportunities by nurturing local talent in distribution, marketing, and accounting. For youth who diligently complete the program, it will provide a separate budget (200 million KRW) for local exploration and project implementation. Additionally, to assist local participating companies struggling to find consumer connections, it will help secure sales channels by utilizing distribution channels such as department stores and home shopping.
This project is a program by Seoul City to provide Seoul youth with jobs, experience, and opportunities at local companies, while supporting the inflow of young workers to areas lacking youth manpower. The city expects that cooperation with Hyundai Department Store will further strengthen support for the youth and companies participating in the project.
Meanwhile, over 120 youths hired by local companies through the first recruitment last month will begin activities from the 16th in about 40 regions including Sokcho City in Gangwon and Andong City in Gyeongbuk. They will work 32 hours per week and engage in 8 hours of social contribution activities weekly until the end of December this year, receiving a monthly salary of 2.2 million KRW.
