Supporting Neighbors in Need with 6.2 Tons of Leeks Amid Price Drop... YouTube Promotion Using Leek-Related Recipes like 'Leek Kimchi' to Boost Leek Consumption
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation (President Kim Kyung-ho) recently shared the burden of pain faced by green onion producers struggling due to price declines by purchasing green onions together with the Hope Sharing Market Association and donating them to neighbors in need within Seoul to stabilize supply and demand through consumption promotion.
At the sharing event on the 14th, the corporation donated about 6.2 tons (616 boxes) of green onions purchased from Garak Market to the Seoul Metropolitan Food Bank and Songpa Wirye Citizens' Solidarity. The donated green onions were distributed to food bank markets and social welfare facilities across 25 autonomous districts in Seoul.
Along with this, the corporation also distributed a ‘Green Onion Kimchi’ recipe to increase the utilization of the donated green onions.
The corporation developed various green onion-related recipes such as ‘Green Onion Kimchi’ together with Kimchi Master Lee Ha-yeon, produced them on YouTube (https://youtu.be/pzPJpjsn9_I), and is conducting promotional activities to boost green onion consumption.
Going forward, the corporation plans to continue donating additional agricultural products suffering from price declines and to continuously plan various promotional activities to encourage consumption of these products, providing helpful information to consumers and supporting producers’ sales.
