Ministry of SMEs and Startups Introduces 'Smart Pilot Shopping Districts' in 20 Shopping Areas Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 14th that it will introduce 'Smart Pilot Shopping Districts' in collaboration with the Small Enterprise and Market Service and 20 shopping districts nationwide.
The Smart Pilot Shopping Districts have been established to support service and marketing innovation for small business owners. A budget of 1.7 billion KRW will be invested this year. By installing Smart Pilot Shopping Districts in 20 shopping districts nationwide, technology will be introduced to enable contactless reservation, ordering, and payment for about 1,000 stores.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to recruit local governments as candidates for the installation of Smart Pilot Shopping Districts through the Small Enterprise and Market Service website until the 8th of next month. Selected districts will be provided with a smart order system integrated with mobile reservation, ordering, and payment systems. Additionally, in collaboration with the Fair Trade Commission, 400 unmanned order and payment kiosks will be installed free of charge in the Smart Pilot Shopping Districts.
The Ministry will also build a database of companies possessing smart store technologies applicable to small business sites and provide it to small business owners to promote the use of smart technologies. A smart store model shop will be opened to exhibit and demonstrate products related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies applicable to small business management sites, aiming to enhance awareness of smart technologies.
