SKT Expands Automatic Payment for Bills with Fintech Simple Payment
[Asia Economy Reporter Joesulgina] SK Telecom is adopting fintech services that enable easy payments as an automatic payment method for mobile phone bills in the 5G era.
On the 14th, SK Telecom announced that starting from the 28th, it will expand payment options to allow automatic payment of bills using 11st’s easy payment service SK Pay. This measure aims to enhance customer convenience as the number of users utilizing easy payment through fintech services has recently surged.
To use SK Pay’s prepaid charging service, SK Pay Money, as an automatic payment method, users need to install the SK Pay application on their smartphones, subscribe to the service, and then apply for automatic payment through the app. Service applications are also available at SK Telecom’s agencies, branches, customer centers, and the T World website.
For actual automatic payment, SK Pay prepaid charging must be set up in advance. Prepaid charging is a cash-equivalent payment method that allows users to pay various bills, purchase products, or use remittance services by charging points in advance via bank accounts or in real-time at the time of payment.
SK Pay plans to provide prepaid charging services linked to accounts from 18 domestic commercial banks. When mobile phone bills are automatically paid using the prepaid charging payment method of the easy payment service, cash receipts can be issued just like automatic payments using bank accounts.
SK Telecom plans to enhance customer convenience by expanding fintech automatic payment services through partnerships with major domestic easy payment services such as KakaoPay, PAYCO, Finnq, and Naver Pay, in addition to SK Pay, within the first half of the year.
Lee Ki-yoon, Head of Customer Value Innovation at SK Telecom, said, “Considering the increasing use of fintech services by customers, we have made it possible to use them as automatic payment methods as well. We expect that once the prepaid charging limit increases and postpaid functions are included, it will become a representative mobile payment method.”
