Gyeonggi Economic Science Institute, 'Maximum' Purchase of Social Enterprise Products
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency was evaluated as the institution that purchased the most social enterprise products last year.
The Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency announced on the 14th that it achieved the highest performance among 26 affiliated institutions in Gyeonggi-do in the '2019 Social Enterprise Product Public Purchase Performance Evaluation,' conducted by Gyeonggi-do to raise interest in public procurement of social economy enterprise products.
Expanding public procurement of social economy products is one of the pledges of the 7th Gyeonggi-do administration.
The Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency set a 'public purchase target amount for social enterprise products' to promote priority purchasing of social enterprises, newly discovered and guided social enterprises to ensure priority contracts.
Through these efforts, the Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency recorded 1.387 billion KRW in public purchases of social enterprise products in 2019. This is a sevenfold increase compared to 20 million KRW in 2018.
This year, the Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency plans to continuously inform all employees about the necessity of public procurement and social enterprise products and services to increase the purchase rate, and strengthen the management system for achieving goals by receiving monthly purchase performance reports by department.
Kim Ki-jun, head of the Gyeonggi Economic Science Agency, emphasized, "Recently, due to COVID-19 and other factors, social enterprises in the province are facing difficulties in sales channels," adding, "We will do our best to secure stable sales channels through public procurement and enhance self-reliance capabilities."
