Kim Jong-in: "The People Must Overcome Not Only COVID-19 but Also the 'Jokuk Virus'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-in, the General Election Committee Chairman of the United Future Party, described the movement to reinstate former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk as a "virus" and said, "The people must also overcome the Cho Kuk virus."
On the 13th, during a campaign rally supporting candidates in Chungju, Chungbuk, Chairman Kim said, "We cannot allow such a virus, which committed the most injustice and unfairness in this election, to come back to life."
Kim cited the appointment process of former Minister Cho as a representative case of fairness and justice being damaged over the past three years, criticizing the ruling coalition's movement by saying, "Recently, during the election process, there has been a thought of 'how can we bring that person back to life again?'"
He added, "People closely associated with this Cho Kuk virus must also be socially isolated," and continued, "With the wisdom of the people who overcame the coronavirus, we must also overcome this Cho Kuk virus that I am talking about."
Kim criticized the government's economic management over the past three years, saying, "They raised the minimum wage, tried income-led growth, pursued nuclear phase-out, and the past three years were a period when the Blue House managed the economy at will," adding, "but the result is the downfall of small business owners and self-employed people."
