Future United Party Gwangju-Jeonnam Candidates Appeal for "Power of Checks and Balances"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] On the 12th, the candidates of the United Future Party running for the April 15 general election in Gwangju and Jeonnam held a ‘Gwangju-Jeonnam Emergency Resolution Declaration and Nationwide Intensive Rally’ at Jorye Lake Park in Suncheon, Jeonnam, appealing for “the power of checks and balances for the Republic of Korea.”
According to the United Future Party’s Gwangju-Jeonnam city and provincial party organizations, the campaign committee and candidates read a public appeal during the intensive rally, pleading for support.
Beom Gi-cheol, candidate for Gwangju Buk-gu Gap, emphasized, “The Republic of Korea is now at a crossroads,” and urged, “Voters in Gwangju and Jeonnam, please correct the wrong direction the country is heading.”
Lim Dong-ha, candidate for Yeosu-si (Eul), Jeonnam, appealed for support for the United Future Party, saying, “For the development of Honam and the future of Honam, at least one seat for the United Future Party must be elected.”
Cheon Ha-ram, candidate for Suncheon, Gwangyang, Gokseong, and Gurye Gap, stated, “I am not asking for support because the United Future Party is likable,” and argued, “Voters in Gwangju and Jeonnam need to create a party structure that allows healthy competition so that regardless of which side the regime goes, steady regional development can be sustained.”
Kwon Ae-young, head of the United Future Party Jeonnam Provincial Party’s campaign committee, said, “If the ruling party creates a parliament that monopolizes power, it will be impossible to prevent the country from going in the wrong direction,” and expressed hope for “voters’ wise judgment.”
