Kim Jong-in "Gyeonggi-do and Seoul Mayors Also Provide Subsidies... Government Must Immediately Issue Financial Order"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-in, the General Election Committee Chairman of the United Future Party, stated on the 12th, "The government should immediately invoke the financial order to secure funds and save the economic entities facing difficulties."
At the emergency economic countermeasure meeting of the Central Election Committee held at the National Assembly that day, Chairman Kim said, "Even the Governor of Gyeonggi Province and the Mayor of Seoul are providing disaster relief funds, but the central government is not doing what it should."
He emphasized that President Moon should change 100 trillion won out of this year's 512 trillion won budget into an emergency financial order to secure funds for preventing the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). He criticized, "The president is neglecting his duties," adding, "Can we just passively endure when disaster strikes? There is no way to understand the government's attitude."
Chairman Kim said, "We must keep in mind that when COVID-19 is somewhat resolved and countries compete to enhance international competitiveness, we will not be able to catch up, and we need to prepare economic policies accordingly," adding, "It seems they are trapped in the mindset that the budget already set cannot be changed anymore, but policies cannot be made based on such logic."
