Integrated Union Urges Boosting Morale and Guaranteeing Rest Rights for Public Officials Working Hard on COVID-19 Prevention
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The National Integrated Public Officials Labor Union (Chairman Lee Chung-jae·photo) issued a statement on the 10th, urging the establishment and implementation of measures to boost the morale and guarantee the right to rest for public officials who are working hard on COVID-19 quarantine and prevention, as well as preparations for the 21st general election.
In the statement, the Integrated Labor Union noted that since the novel coronavirus emerged in China last year and entered the country earlier this year, the efforts of public officials have been tremendous. It also emphasized that the hard work of central disaster and medical sector public officials, including those at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, as well as local public officials engaged in quarantine and prevention tasks at local governments nationwide, should not be forgotten.
Furthermore, it stated that tasks such as disaster relief fund operations to overcome economic difficulties and the preparation and execution of the 21st National Assembly general election ultimately require the dedication of public officials.
The Integrated Labor Union demanded that the government respond carefully to prevent the recurrence of cases that lower public officials’ morale, such as cuts to annual leave compensation and controversies over pension liabilities.
