Korea-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Call... Kang Kyung-wha Urges "Cooperation for Overseas Citizens' Safety and Return"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the afternoon of the 10th, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a phone call at the request of Pakistan's Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi to discuss directions for bilateral cooperation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister Kang explained that as a result of the Korean government's proactive and preemptive quarantine measures, the COVID-19 situation in Korea has recently improved, but efforts continue without complacency to completely end the crisis.
Minister Qureshi highly praised the Korean government's response to COVID-19 and explained the spread of COVID-19 in Pakistan, expressing hope for cooperation and support to respond to the situation.
Minister Kang agreed on the necessity of cooperation and solidarity in responding to COVID-19 and said that specific methods will be reviewed considering discussions in the international community. She also requested Pakistan's special attention and cooperation for the safety and return of Korean nationals residing in Pakistan, to which Minister Qureshi expressed his intention to actively cooperate.
