KCC Urgently Schedules EBS Programs Exclusively for Infants and Toddlers
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Korea Communications Commission has urgently scheduled preschool and children's programs on EBS 1TV to compensate for the educational gap for infants and toddlers caused by the closure of daycare centers and kindergartens.
First, starting from the 13th for seven weeks, a special live broadcast titled Our Home Kindergarten, based on the kindergarten curriculum, will be aired on terrestrial EBS 1TV from 9:40 AM to 10:30 AM.
Our Home Kindergarten was produced according to the kindergarten Nuri curriculum, matching the educational content to be learned from March to May. During the live broadcast, various opportunities for communication and participation will be provided, including video calls with kindergarten teachers.
Additionally, the Korea Communications Commission, in consultation with the Ministry of Science and ICT, decided to provide the EBS Kids channel, dedicated to infants and toddlers, through paid broadcasting services. Currently, EBS Kids is broadcast only on three Internet Protocol (IP) TV providers and LG HelloVision, but it will be supported to be viewed on the basic packages of four other providers: T-Broad, D'Live, CMB, and Hyundai HCN.

Han Sang-hyuk, Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, said, "Considering the developmental stages of preschool children, learning through broadcast programs is preferable to the internet," and added, "With the special programming of EBS's preschool and children's programs and the expansion of viewing rights for the EBS Kids channel, children who cannot attend kindergartens and daycare centers, as well as their parents, are expected to receive safe education at home with high-quality content."
