[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City will conduct special inspections of downtown entertainment districts on the 10th and 11th.
On the morning of the 10th, Chae Hong-ho, Deputy Mayor of Daegu, stated at a regular briefing, "Despite the recent extension of the high-intensity social distancing period, business activities at entertainment establishments continue to occur," adding, "Starting today, special inspections will be conducted over two days in four entertainment district areas in Daegu."
The target areas are Dongseong-ro, Dongdaegu Station, Hwanggeum Intersection, and the vicinity of Seongseo Horim Intersection. A joint inspection team of Daegu City and the police (4 teams, 32 members) will focus inspections from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. the following day.
Daegu City recommends that entertainment establishments suspend operations until the 19th, and for businesses that inevitably operate, inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance with quarantine guidelines according to Article 49, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph 2 of the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act.
Establishments that do not comply with the guidelines will face an immediate administrative order to prohibit gatherings and assemblies without separate administrative guidance, following a 'zero tolerance (one strike)' policy. Businesses that violate the administrative order will be subject to a fine of 3 million KRW through criminal prosecution.
Daegu City's policy also includes pursuing claims for damages if confirmed cases occur due to non-compliance with the guidelines or administrative orders.
