CU Launches 'Olleh TV Prepaid' Gift Cards Targeting Homebodies
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CU announced on the 9th that it has launched the industry's first 'Olleh TV Prepaid' gift card, allowing customers to enjoy over 210,000 VOD titles at home.
Olleh TV is the industry leader holding about 45% of the domestic IPTV market and offers a wide range of content including movies, dramas, concerts by famous singers, and worship services for religious groups.
Recently, due to the delay in school openings caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Olleh TV has strengthened homeschooling content across various subjects such as physical education, Korean, and mathematics, leading to a rapid increase in subscribers.
According to the 'Online Theater Box Office,' an integrated computer system for movie theater tickets, paid IPTV movie purchases in February this year increased by approximately 81% compared to the same period last year, marking the highest record since statistics began.
In line with this trend, the CU Olleh TV Prepaid gift card was launched as a prepaid card (excluding business and monthly subscription products) that can be freely used up to the amount spent on purchasing paid VOD on the Olleh TV channel. It is available in four denominations: 5,000 won, 10,000 won, 20,000 won, and 30,000 won.
In particular, this product can be freely used by customers who had difficulties with mobile payments on existing IPTV services, such as elementary, middle, and high school students with restricted mobile payments on kids' phones or student plans, as well as foreign customers without local mobile phones.
The usage method is simple. After purchasing the Olleh TV Prepaid gift card of the desired amount at a nearby CU, customers can register the coupon serial number printed on the receipt on Olleh TV channel 707 and use it immediately.
