Naju City to Accept Applications for 'Jeonnam-style COVID-19 Emergency Living Expenses' Starting from the 7th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyuk] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 7th that it will begin accepting applications for the ‘Jeonnam-type COVID-19 Emergency Living Expenses’ support.
The Jeonnam-type COVID-19 Emergency Living Expenses provide differentiated living stabilization funds reflecting the financial conditions of each household to stabilize the lives of citizens experiencing economic difficulties due to COVID-19.
Separate from the emergency disaster relief funds promoted by the government, up to 500,000 KRW will be provided according to the number of household members for households with median income at or below 100%.
Eligibility is for households registered as residents in the city as of the 29th of last month with ‘health insurance premium standard median income at or below 100%’. Support will be provided once in Naju Sarang gift certificates as follows: 300,000 KRW for 1-2 person households, 400,000 KRW for 3-4 person households, and 500,000 KRW for households of 5 or more.
However, households receiving similar government support such as temporary living support, emergency welfare, COVID-19 hospitalization/quarantine living support, and unemployment benefits recipients are excluded from the emergency living expenses support.
Applications can be made by visiting the administrative welfare center in the applicant’s district with an ID card and health insurance card (or health insurance premium payment confirmation) by the 29th of next month, or through the website.
As part of social distancing to prevent COVID-19, the city plans to introduce a five-day rotation system for district visits based on the last digit of the birth year (Monday: 1 and 6).
The support eligibility is determined by the type of health insurance subscription of household members and property level.
If all household members are regional subscribers, only the health insurance premium personal burden is applied; for workplace subscribers or mixed (regional + workplace) subscribers, property (excluding financial assets, up to 188.8 million KRW) is additionally applied to the health insurance premium.
For example, for a 2-person household where all members are regional subscribers, the health insurance premium personal burden standard amount is 85,837 KRW. For a 3-person household, it is 121,735 KRW, and for a 4-person household, it is 160,865 KRW.
The city plans to actively encourage the use of gift certificates within three months after receipt to revitalize the local economy.
