Guro-gu Provides Additional 160,000 Masks to Vulnerable Groups
Elderly Living Alone and Basic Livelihood Recipients Receive 'COVID-19 Prevention' Masks Funded by Donations... Distributed 5 Masks Per Person at Local Community Centers, Detailed Schedule Provided Individually
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Sung) will provide an additional 160,000 masks to vulnerable residents.
Guro-gu announced on the 7th, "Using donations received from various sectors for COVID-19 prevention, we are preparing masks and distributing them to low-income vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone, basic livelihood security recipients, and near-poverty class."
As of the end of last month, the COVID-19 prevention donations entrusted to Guro-gu through the Community Chest of Korea amounted to 231.04 million KRW.
With this fund, Guro-gu will purchase masks and distribute 5 masks each to a total of 31,980 people, including ▲11,998 elderly living alone aged 65 or older ▲9,879 basic livelihood security recipients ▲6,625 near-poverty class ▲1,980 vulnerable children under 9 years old ▲910 Food Market members ▲588 residents of living facilities. Dental masks will be provided to adults, and health masks to children.
Guro-gu has been distributing masks through the local community centers since the 6th. Specific schedules will be individually notified to recipients by their respective community centers.
Prior to this, Guro-gu distributed a total of 800,000 masks, including 395,990 masks to elderly aged 65 or older, 90,475 masks to people with disabilities, 66,740 masks to daycare centers, 23,600 masks to low-income groups, 10,000 masks to care and childcare facilities, 8,992 masks to pregnant women, and 6,200 masks to Dream Start children.
Guro-gu plans to continue purchasing health masks and provide additional support to basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, and others in the future.

A Guro-gu official stated, "We are making efforts to ensure continuous distribution to vulnerable groups who have difficulty purchasing masks," and added, "We will do our best to secure and support masks."
