According to Busan Port Authority and the Coast Guard, at around 2:50 p.m. on the 6th, container ship A, entering berth No. 8 at the North Port container terminal of Busan New Port, collided consecutively with another moored vessel and crane No. 81.
Subsequently, ship A turned to the right and collided with crane No. 85, causing the crane to collapse.
As a result of the accident, one of the five quay cranes at berth No. 8 of Pier 2 completely collapsed, and another requires replacement. The remaining three cranes have either damaged rails or suspected damage, necessitating detailed inspections to determine the exact extent of the damage.
While the precise cause and extent of the damage will be clarified after investigation, the operator's losses are expected to reach several hundred million won.
